COVID-19 Protocol

The safety and comfort of our patients and staff has always been a top priority but especially now during Covid-19 times, it’s of the utmost importance.  As a medical professional office we are up to date on all BC CDC and WorkSafe protocols but we have also implemented additional technology into the clinic structure to further protect all who come into our office.

Negative Pressure Fans in Treatment Rooms

Negative pressure fans have been installed in each treatment room to promote the safety of our patients and staff. A negative pressure system prevents cross-contamination from room to room in a health care setting. It includes a ventilation system that generates negative pressure to allow air to flow into the room but not escape the room.

Instead, air from the room is filtered through a high-efficiency particulate arrestee (HEPA) filter system to ensure that it is cleaned before it is ventilated to the outdoors. This technique prevents contaminated air from escaping the room to either the outdoors or other rooms in the clinic.

UV-Sterilized Air Purification System

UV-C light, one of three types of ultraviolet light, is commonly used in air purification. When properly utilized, this invisible form of light can safely kill germs, mold, mildew, and in some cases even bacteria and viruses.  The UV-C light is not released into the room, so you will not see it nor will you be exposed to it. It is built into our HVAC system and runs continuously.

High Volume Suction in All Hygiene Rooms

High volume suction is the best solution for controlling aerosol particles before they leave the mouth. This type of suction can reduce 90% to 98% of aerosols, regardless of their source.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – N95 Masks on our Staff

An N95 respirator is a respiratory protective device designed to achieve a close facial fit and very efficient filtration of airborne particles. The edges of the respirator are designed to form a seal around the nose and mouth. For added safety you’ll see our hygienists, dental assistants and Dr Crista wearing a surgical mask layered over that as well.

Heightened Cleaning Protocols

Being a dental office everything is already cleaned and sterilized between patients but we have added additional cleaning and sterilization protocols for the building’s common areas including the entry, reception and bathroom as well as all frequently touched surfaces.

New Check-In Procedure

With your appointment reminder you will receive an email regarding the updated procedure and pre-screening process which will include a quick Patient Screening Form along with a temperature and blood-oxygen check.  It’s non-invasive, super easy and designed to help keep everyone safe.

Safe Physical Distancing, Barriers in Place & Outdoor Waiting Space

The seating area of our reception is currently closed and masks are mandatory on premises until you’re seated in a chair for your appointment.  If you don’t have a mask, one will be provided.  We have installed additional glass barriers to further help with social distancing and have added covered seating outside should you prefer to not wait in your vehicle.
